What about college?

While many of today's young people have set their goal at a college degree, the fact is that college isn't for everybody. The American College Testing Service (ACT) reports that in 1966, 27% of all college freshman dropped out of school and only 53% of entering college freshman graduated within 5 years.

There's not even a guarantee for those whose finish college. The US Department of Labor reports that one in three college graduates fails to find a job in their field of study. While our nation's colleges graduate 1.2 million students each year with professional degrees, The economy only creates 600,000 new jobs for them. Many college graduates find themselves returning to school to enroll in a two year technical program to increase their likelihood of employment.

Whether they have no college, a few college credits or even a degree, a career in masonry offers an excellent alternative to these students. Masons are almost guaranteed employment upon completion of their apprenticeship and they will have a lifetime of competitive wages.
